Why Women Stop Doing What They Love
Most women can name something they used to love doing that has slowly disappeared from their lives. A hobby, an interest, a few hours that belonged only to them.
This is not a personal failing, but a pattern of structural, gendered forces that quietly push hobbies out of women's lives.
The Hobby Gap is the book I am writing to name that pattern and offer a practical path forward, grounded in research, real women's stories, and a gender lens.
Who gets to rest, and who does not, is gender inequality made visible in everyday life. Data clearly shows that women have far less leisure time than men. At best, they feel they need to earn rest. At worst, they come to believe they must always put themselves last.
